Girls Youth Basketball

Join Canandaigua Girls Youth Basketball for the upcoming season! Programs are available for UPK through 8th grade, with discounts for new participants in Little Dribblers and House programs.

  • Little Dribblers (Grades UPK–2nd): Saturday mornings (Nov 7 – Dec 19). Fun, game-based learning.

  • House League (Grades 2nd–6th): Saturday mornings (Oct 17 – Nov 21). Open to all skill levels; prepares players for travel.

  • Travel (Grades 3rd–8th): Competitive play against local schools. Must participate in House League (House fee included).

  • Travel + (Grades 3rd–8th): Competitive tryout option with convenient after-school training.

September Wood Library Children's Events

This children's September event schedule offers a variety of interactive programs ranging from Music Makers for ages 1–6 (Sept. 2) to hands-on activities like Kids Sew (Sept. 8), an apple tasting and craft workshop with the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association (Sept. 15), Lego Club (Sept. 22), and a Family Book Club discussing Nell O'Dell Hates Quests (Sept. 29).

While regular storytimes are paused for the month, families can participate in the ongoing Baker Park Storywalk at 185 Buffalo St. Note that registration is required for select events like Kids Sew and the apple workshop.

YMCA Teen Academy

Teen Academy is a year-long career development and personal growth program for youth ages 15–19, held monthly from 6:15 - 8:15PM at the YMCA in Canandaigua.

$150–$175 for the full year or $25–$35 per individual session.

The 2026–2027 action plan spans monthly meetings from September through June, covering essential milestones such as job applications, interview prep, work environments, job recruitment, trade school/military options, college planning, budgeting, and a recruitment fair, culminating in a graduation ceremony.

Junior Leaders at Canandaigua Primary Schools

Junior Leaders Club provides youth ages 9–11 with opportunities to develop their leadership potential while fostering a culture of service, social development, a growth mindset and self-advocacy.

Participants will enjoy engaging afternoon activities, team-building and leadership experiences at Canandaigua Primary School in a fun and supportive environment.

After School Program - Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is offering an After School Program starting Monday, September 9th, for students in grades 1 - 7. This program runs Monday - Friday until 5:30PM. This provides participants with healthy snacks, homework help, STEM activities, core values instruction, and structured group activities. Youth Karate at Canandaigua Primary School

The YMCA is offering a Youth Karate program focused on Machida Karate—a self-defense methodology built on Shotokan Karate that emphasizes resilience (Fudoshin) and Bushido values to improve mind, body, and spirit (Shin-Gi-Tai).

Held at Canandaigua Primary School, classes run on Mondays from 3:15 - 4:15 PM, starting October 5th through May 31st.

Pricing ranges from $30 for BASP participants, $39 for YMCA members, $50 for Youth Program members, to $70 for non-members.
